Ah... yes, I don't see the two manual options happening either, although I wonder if a there will be final gear options via TRD/SPT?
As for the ECU, I don't see a tunable ECU as a problem, particularly in California. Usually you have to install other parts (I/H/E and/or FI) that would cause the car to fail smog before they have a chance to plug into the OBD port. As long as those aren't present, there isn't going to be any
useful amount of tuning you could do to the ECU that would throw it so far out of whack to fail testing.
