You can remove or replace the back seats if you wish, but removing them from the factory means the car will be a 2 seater rather than 2+2 for insurance purposes. Over the course of a few years, the insurance money will far outstrip the cost of putting in the seat.
I will never use them, but I'm thankful they were included.
