My main question is, since I'm likely just going to stick with the standard tire size of 215/45/R17 for the MPS4S will this have any downside if I choose to get new rims in the future that are slightly wider?

TireRack shows that the 215s will fit a 7-8" wheel, or should I get the 225s which will also fit a 7-8.5" wheel? Would it make a big difference to choose one over the other?

I've been wanting the TSW Nurburgring rims in 17x8 +45 if I can find them, I just don't wanna spend all the money on both tires and rims right now.

Any help would be appreciated (apologies for my noobness)
No, there's no downside of getting slightly wider wheels. A 215/45/17 tire size will fit on a 17x8 wheel just fine, but if you decide you want to get wheels that are 17x8.5 or higher you will need a 225/45/17 or larger.
