I would feel much, much better if a new short or long block was being installed. Honestly, by the time they factor in their technician's labour, I can't see what they are doing being that much cheaper than the cost of a short block ??
Hope it all works out - but this may be worth mentioning.

Might be a supply issue as well? We get engines as fairly stripped long blocks or complete minus accessories, just depends on which engine it is.
And I agree, not sure I want the guy who just built my engine that failed to build me another engine, with 80% used parts.
