This is worth looking at. Like the previous poster mentioned, try to get the car into a similar position as when you get noise and then grab the exhaust and move it.

And yes, this is VERY common with aftermarket exhaust systems. From my Miatas to M3s *EVERY* exhaust I've installed involved some sort of repositioning to keep it from hitting the diff carrier, drive axle, rear body outlet, etc.
