If they don't there will be unnecessary stresses on the kit and it will pull away from the car. When you get your kit installed walk around it and look to see that everything is centered and that the kit follows the lines and seams on the car. Check the kit for any gaps where it wraps into the wheel wells, this will be a good cue.
