I don't think your engine is sitting back further than anybody elses', I think nobody openly said the tunnel needed to be cut and boxed. Mine is cut and boxed just like yours. It isn't much, and boxing it isn't a huge deal, but I can imagine what a pain in the ass it would be to go off the assumption that banging the tunnel would make it work. Banging, test fitting, in/out, only to find it doesn't have clearance... If someone has a 2J/CD009 without the tunnel cut post pictures, or a story of the clunking noise the tranny makes when they shift.
