I honestly don't recall how well I bedded them, may not have been done properly in hindsight.
It sounds like you're getting pretty close, but not actually getting them hot enough to get a proper transfer layer. If the noise is going away, but eventually coming back, then you're pretty damn close. Get them hotter (sacrifice a cooldown lap; just keep speeding up and braking, even on straights) and then keep rolling while staying off the brakes until they're cool to the touch. The noise should be permanently gone.

Source: I've been daily driving on race pads for years.

Disclaimer: some pads will never go silent (older compounds, enduro compounds).
