It's not about vacuuming. It's about muddy and salty slush that gets tracked into the car from plowed lots and streets. By the time the mats are dry enough to vacuum, you'll need to shampoo the carpet mats to get the dirt out.
Luckily for me I'm not going to be driving my BRZ during the Winter.
