I was going to do my first oil change at 2,000 miles, but I am heading up to Massachusetts on a long road trip this Thursday. Considering that will be over 1,600 miles round trip, I thought I would get this in before I left.
Tools needed:
-14mm, and 17mm(for the Fumoto) wrenches
-Rags for cleaning filter cup, checking dipstick, etc.
-Pumpkin Ale of choice
1,524 miles on the ODO...
Products I used:
-5.5L of Motul 8100 Eco-lite 0W20
-Mobil 1 M1-104 Oil Filter
-Fumoto F108S Oil Drain Valve
The oil change itself was the easiest I've ever performed on a car. Having that filter up top is just awesome. Filter came off with two bare hands, so I had it easier than some owners have been reporting. The original crush washer was bent well out of round (looked like an egg shape), and was into the OEM drain plug so hard I had to use a flat-head screwdriver to get it off. Odd.
The Fumoto valve is a solid piece, and the 'S' version nipple is high enough where I am not worried about it scraping. The valve takes a good amount of effort to open up so it doesn't seem like it would accidentally open while driving.
Happy preventive maintenance! :happy0180:
