I am betting that hp/liter is reduced because cams are somewhat less aggressive (less duration and overlap) to minimize (essentially eliminate) the torque dip. Personally I would have been fine with keeping just over 100 hp/liter and keeping the torque dip, but it seems like they've done a good job of keeping it revvy enough while making midrange nice and fat...
