The turbo kit is the cheap part. This is not something that can be done reliably on a budget.

If you just want to figure it out and want to start cheap, get the OpenFlash Tablet, and the SBD turbo kit. Let your tuner know that you're just looking for mid 200s and if they're sensible, they'll get you to that mark and you won't need any power supporting mods like injectors, fuel pump, clutch, nothing. The only thing you need to be mindful of is your temperatures and installation.

A turbo kit introduces a lot of possible failure points. A severe oil or coolant leak will spell death for your engine if you let it go unnoticed. An exhaust leak at the flanges will introduce a lot of fuel correction, and a tune that loads the engine up with low end torque will bend a rod quickly.

All in all, no matter your choice, budget 10k if you want to feel safe with whatever you choose. No, I'm not kidding.
i have the money to do this project, about an extra 12k to spend. money is not much of a constraint.
