timurrrr is exactly right. These two wheel fitments virtually look the same from the side of the car, except the difference in how they support a given tire compound. The 17x9" ET35 will have lots of inner suspension clearance allowing a broader range of enthusiasts to run them, while the 9.5" ET40 wheels take up all the available real estate within the fender wells, thus requiring aftermarket coilovers that have a slimmer silhouette.
