Update - I did have the car back at the dealer because that noise just bugged me. They dropped the pan and the pickup was nearly clogged with debris so they cleaned and reassembled. Since then the noise has nearly gone away other than what's normal boxer clatter and it's running great.
I have about 2k on it since the pan cleaning and about 4k since the work was done. I don't drive it gently (most of the time).
