I tried rubber caps From the part store and they failed within a few weeks with a split that leaked coolant and made a mess. I would definitely recommend connecting the 2 with a hose. One of the original hoses that comes off the engine will actually work.

Oh. My kit came with the blanking caps for the coolant lines. Maybe some kits didn't come with them. Be sure to use a hose clamp on them then because they will be under pressure.
