1996 Toyota Tercel. Like this:
Not because it was a good car, or a fast car, it was just what I could afford, but it had 3 pedals and I learned to drive stick in it. Learning that changed driving from a chore to fun, and how I drove changed. Being 18 at the time I went full asshole, driving the car way harder than it was actually capable of, and not in a good way. The tires would pull off of the steelies, suspension bits broke, and various times having all four wheels off of the ground resulted in some impromptu roadside modification (e.g. the exhaust pipe after the muffler bent up and melted part of the plastic rear bumper, so we cut an opening that looked like it almost belonged with a box cutter purchased from Wal Mart at 2 am). With all of that I had to learn how to fix it, fast, and things have only gotten better since.
I've only had the Fiesta airborne once.
