So, I guess it comes down to which tire you are getting. sizes vary quite a bit between tires.. just as an example, two popular tires.
Mpss 235/40/18 tread width =8.5
Mpss 265/35/18 tread width = 9.8
AD08 R 235/40/18 tread width =9.1
AD08 R 265/35/18 tread width 10.3

I'm leaning towards Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 which are much narrower than those. I don't want the rear 265 tires to rub the rear bumper tab and trying to avoid shaving it.
