I noticed in one of your pics, the dealer had sprayed tire goop not just on the sidewall but also over the first inch or so of the front tire's tread. If the rear was treated the same way, this could have affected the handling. After some miles it'll wear off, so maybe that's why the issue hasn't shown up again.

You wouldn't think that just a small portion of the tread is that important, but the outside edge bears more of the forces when cornering, and some of that tire goop is very slippery! I always spray it on a cloth, then wipe the sidewall to avoid getting any on the tread.
No you're right, and I didn't think of that. I suspect that was a contributing factor. The car has been rock solid since this episode.
