U.S.S. Yorktown (CV-10). WWII Aircraft Carrier now a floating museum in Charleston, SC at
Patriot's Point. Definitely worth spending the day there if you are ever in the area and have an interest in aviation or military history.
Most interesting facts I didn't know is the Yorktown was used as the Japanese flagship of Admiral Nagumo,
Akagi in "
Tora! Tora! Tora!". It was also the recovery ship for the Apollo 8 mission.
This is as close as you can get by car, but there is a gangway (seen on the left in the picture) that leads to the ship used by delivery trucks, etc. Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone with enough "power" to offer a donation in exchange for a photo shoot up next to the ship.
