Get a beater E30/E36 or a Miata as a starter RWD car and learn the balance. You'll make some mistakes in the process, and hopefully they'll be small ones. Making a small mistake in a brand new car would be a major bummer, while in an E30 it would mean picking up a $40 bumper from the junk yard. New cars like the FRS are built to crumple. It will not hide your mistakes.
