I usually use Turtle Wax Bug & Tar remover and that works well. Just spray, let it soak, and wipe off.

Meguiars quick detailer is ok too, but takes a little more effort.

I think you hit the nail square on the head. Porsche probably recognized the manual gearbox would be a detriment to its performance (unacceptable for a GT3 RS) and took that option away from buyers....
