You'll see that on both corners in the pictures, I think it's an optical illusion...

If a 125kb signal is sent out on the 500kb line, it will muddle the entire line...

I think they only use one bit rate per line, otherwise things get messy. I believe if you are getting data that is accurate at 500kb/s then that is probably the correct speed.
