My experience with them is pretty much exactly how you are describing. I’ve got through about 6 sets of RE71R’s.

For session heat cycling I’d say you have about 15 mins before tire starts cooking....

If it’s an issue just disconnect the new battery...

If it’s an issue just disconnect the new battery terminal and leave a 10mm wrench in the glovebox. That way you don’t have to worry about it.
