I totally agree.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, they don't have a dyno at the factory.
Any claim of power gain with a catback on the GT86 is science fiction.
Not even a straight pipe will give more...

That's a lot of money... I calculated a possible list price for a valved muffler, direct pipe when the valve is open, as quiet as our homologated system when close.
Excluding the valve (the likes of...

Dimman very good explanation of the pressure wave / flow issue. Calum interesting reading, I agree that there are strong similarities of tuning an exhaust and an audio system. As you said the main...

For the dip, yes, I agree.
For peak power there is a gain without a tune.
We've seen a 15 hp increase at 6000rpm and 11 hp of peak power with catless headers and HFC front pipe.
Then with a...

I completely disagree.
While it's true that a tune can improve on the power delivery and get the best result from mechanical mods, a well designed manifold can improve performance without it.
The...

I wouldn't bet on a engine sound change with a ECU tune.
I agree on the fact that if you start modifying the GT86 it's better to get a Ecutek cable and contact a company willing to give you map...

I can confirm that replacing the headers and the front pipe with pipe-only component often result in metallic vibration.
This can be cause both by heatshield rattle but it's often caused by the...

Got it, if you use the correct battery (charged from a source off the car like a wall plug) and a time-limited boost it's physically possibile. Thanks for the link.

The silenced route is still a direct flow silencer so it doesn't affect performance in anyway, actually it's better than stock. The direct route is as free-flowing as an exhaust can ben. Think...

We tested different setups. The midpipe doesn't give any power gain, as well as the rear muffler.
The only way to gain real power on this car is to work on the front pipe and the headers.

In terms of performance the stock midpipe is ok, unless you go turbo with high boost (300+hp).
The real bottlenecks are the cats on the headers and front pipe.

76mm on a 200 hp NA car? It will kill the power delivery.
We usually use 76 on cars with well over 300 hp.

65-70mm is enough for 2.0l turbo car under 300 hp.
