I don't know if this is a common problem on 86es or not. However, this used to be a fairly common issue on older Nissans, and an upgraded Nismo clutch fork pivot used to be offered.

That's not a bad idea at all. Using bolts rather than the studs would probably give a bit more clearance when trying to get the overpipe in, too. I'll keep that in mind the next time it is apart.

Did you drill out the header/overpipe connection for new hardware? It looks like yours uses nuts/bolts. Mine came with studs and nuts, like a turbo header.
