They also sell glossers and metalizers do add a finish to the plastidip. You have a lot of options.

You just make a tear in the plastidip and it will peel right off. It's safe and durable. After a few months it may start tearing but its very very cheap to buy. It about $6 a can.

about 1 & 1/2. they key was not over spraying them and just doing it in layers. I went 50% opacity on the first coat and just let it dry for a few minutes. Did another 2-3 layers and touch ups.
