there's no such thing as voiding a warranty on a car in the US. in order for Subaru to deny your warranty claim, they have to have a good reason/explanation that your modification caused the damage...

That's all the way into the plastic. Gonna want basic touch up if you're going cheap, or a respray/blend from a body shop if you really want it fixed back to new.

I think most people use this for bike racks or very small trailers that don't require lights. If you were to wire for a trailer, I assume you'd have to tap the lines going to the tail lights.
