The EPA is what dictates 0W20 in this engine. The Japanese manual references use case and has table with what weights should be used for what use types. It goes to 40. It's the same engine.

Nothing pedantic about it. Words have meanings and those meanings matter.
Tolerance=/=clearance. You can even have a VERY tight tolerance on your clearance, and still have a very large clearance.
