Just bypass the stock indicators? If the SpecD's source/tap from the existing indicators, then you could simply cut the wire going to the stock indicators AFTER the tap.

My car (a GT model) came with a 6 pin, l rewired it to connect to the 8 pin BRZ harness. So essentially 8 pin harness to the 8 pin BRZ Headlight connector.

Not a straight swap. To my knowledge you'll have to re-pin the connectors. Isn't that hard though and is reverse-able.
Also you won't have the connections for the leveling motor. GTS/Series 10...
