Why would the tuner not work? FM in Australia is 87.5-108 MHz. FM in US is 88-108 MHz. Things like HD Radio and tags might not work, but the stations should tune just fine.

I am pretty sure that one doesn't have wireless CarPlay. The only one I am aware of that does is the Alpine iLX-107, which doesn't have an optical drive.

My '17 HU has never been particularly usable with my iPhone plugged in via USB. I use BT. Early releases of iOS 11 caused me BT issues at first, but things seem to have stabilized.

Not sure the Pioneer NEX 4200 will fit perfectly in the 200mm opening in the replacement dash trim, but the Kenwoods will, if you can find one.

Getting the steering controls, USB, camera, etc....
