And most tracks allow spectators for a small entry fee ($10-20) but I'm not sure if COTA specifically has the same policy or not...

Not yet, the car is still driveable. The synchro issue is really just a problem at low rpm's... At high rpm shifts I have an engagement problem maybe 1/10 times.
