It doesn't have to be ash free, just low in ash. The fuel produces ash too, so the tiny amount from the 2SO being added is insignificant but best to keep it as low as possible.

Don't use fully synthetic. The best all rounder is JASO - FC mineral in the lowest ash content you can get.
