hmmmm....

How about a phenolic upper plate replacement, to shield the blower from heat? That won't help the manifold much, but it has to be worth something and won't cause further clearance...

Did you have any excessive play prying the motor or trans around? L's, RS', Foresters, and leggy's were all awful about this after lots of miles or a short time with boost.
