the WHOLE roof moves to expose the sunroof opening, i had the rear in 'vent' position

very very beefy rails, pop up air skirt and no wind in the car no matter how fast I go

How do the cars compare?
Obviously the Porsches have more power, but do you feel like the power to handling ratio is similar to the twins?

What the hell do you guys care? They are former BRZ owners. Is it just because they bought a pair of Porsches as the replacements? Geez get off your high horses and either not comment or at least be critical in a constructive way (or positive which I would suspect if you were actually being honest since I sense a bit of jealousy). Sure it could have been posted in the "other vehicles" area but come on...f'ing seriously.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, you all may want to consider how close the cayman s is used and the 2007 up ones have a revised ims from the 2005/2006 cars that are notorious
We got a MPP warranty so our lawyer has someone to mail a letter to if the motor dies and we have claim that doesn't cover the costs, I'm not looking for surprises and while we do okay we aren't exactly rich

We had lots of fun with our BRZ both supercharged
They are great cars but seem sorta under engineered when you compare it to a porsche, even a seven year old one, we simply need to put in the alpine head she got under the tree also and she won't miss the brz newness one bit.

Our seven year porsche has tpms that's stellar and shows all,four wheels with real,time temp compensated pressures, brz not

Even having half a power seat is better than brz
More tire does translate to more lateral grip
Factory na motor is enough fun and doesn't need modding the way a 86 NEEEDs MOAR POWAR in a desperate way
There is no reason for our cars to be as road noise susceptible subaru did fine on wrx, why the foo bar here?

We paid $31,800 for our cayman so it's a relevant option for those of us who bought 30k brz. The cayman will be worth close to what we paid next year, not so with brz and frs prices falling fast. We see next year these cars hitting 16k on the market and so we dumped them for two s reaming deals we got on cars we likely to enjoy longer

No they won't be cheaper to own but should be more or less the same minus gas tires and upkeep and since I do all my own work, it's negligible

Both cars being rear and mid engined drive very different from 86 cars, but that's where the strengths and weaknesses become obvious, both have strengths

The brz has amazing turn in, throttle steering the car is so easy and even when I had over 300hp going to the ground it was kinda hard to bring the rear around once I had my koni race shocks dialed In, using only 235/40 17 r comp rubber, the brz out grips my 911 in initial turn in, but I think it has more apex speed and obviously more corner exit
I feel like I have to muscle the 911 to turn in as sharp, with all that motor behind the rear axle, the cayman turns is much faster but not with the precision of my brz, I may just need to get to k who it better, but the handling advantage in tighter tracks is obvious without much time between the cars, it's at the higher speeds you can really see the brz come apart compared to porsche, like cruising at 120mph, one feels fastr the other is just doing it's job.
The brz likes to spin its wheels more in first gear and has oodles of sixth gear, I was around 90mph at 4000rpm in brz
I get 100mph at 4000 rpm with cayman s
Fuel,economy about the same at that rpm

The porsche is a Porsche is a Porsche all day and next year won't have any less hype or demand

It's more fun to drive fast being a slower car, but the cayman s is faster for the same money, fwiw, safer feeling at the limit, just feels like a stiffer chassis

The cayman, which we got for the same money is just amazing to steer slide and beat on, it's too bad we had to wait two more years for the cayman s to become affordable for brz shoppers

It's even easier to drive at the limit than our 911 and a great car to consider as folks trade out of a stock brz that's say worth 20k still with low miles

If subaru did a better job with the overall sheet metal resonance, if it wasn't so tinny compared to a porsche product I think I would have kept the cars

We drive 100 miles each way usually at high rates of speed so that's a 800 mile week
We wear thru cars fast and need stuff that performs, most passenger cars won't cut it

Do I miss my brz? Well why else would I still be hanging out on these forums?

I REALLY wish they evolved, made changes and grew our platform, I really wish they offered a factory turbo motor to build off of, I just felt I tapped out what could be done with bolt ons and even some custom stuff I played with helped test etc, it was a blast but I have no regrets

I miss having a brz enough to go buy one when they are older and may them buy one to strip down a nd go racecar with, but for now it made sense to move into cars that are as much fun if not more than 86s

Big reason why I don't bother with this forum anymore. So many 86 fanboys and not enough TRUE car enthusiasts. Congrats on the two Porsche's. Truly beautiful machines and the benchmark for any sports car. Happy holidays to you OP! Enjoy those beauties from Stuttgart.

Congrats! I also have a 2006 Cayman S to go along with my BRZ. I love the BRZ and the Cayman, both great driver cars... On and off the track! Enjoy them Both!

I'm cool with you sharing your new purchases, and actually think the Cayman S is a very nice platform as a daily. But I actually laughed out loud are you pointing out that your 60k-70K plus car has "stellar" TPMS monitoring because it shows real time data in all four corners? You do realize again that the BRZ is less than half of your Cayman when compared new, and that Toyabaru was looking to build a light cheap sports car for the masses and every bell and whistle was the least of their concerns?

The BRZ seems kinda under engineered? In terms of what? Again the car is so much cheaper than the Cayman, and cost was a HUGE factor when they designed this car. Oh and Im pretty sure that the BRZ having a lower center of gravity than well both your Porches, and pretty much every car ever built other than the LFA and one Ferrari says maybe a little about its engineering?

So was this post a way for you to justify buying one of the lowest rated cars in terms of reliability in recent years so that you sleep better at night? Or was it simply to rub it in everyone's face that the BRZ is a far less superior car to your Porches?
How are you even comparing the two cars anyways? Yes they are sports cars but both those cars cost easily twice as much as a BRZ when new. There is no comparison. Really I am not trying to be a d!@k but I'm pretty sure you will be well received on the Porsche forums.

And I hope you know a good Porsche mechanic, because if there is one thing I am sure of its only a matter of time before you will need one with a 7 year old Cayman S. I know you plan on enjoying the car longer than your BRZ, I mean just because my last two Subarus went over 200K miles without any major issue, I'm sure the Porches engineering superiority will allow you to drive that Cayman to well over 300k miles right?

Oh and I can not wait for these cars to hit 16K next year on the used market, I plan on picking up another to make a pure track car, and with these cars loosing like 8k a year in resale I should have another one sooner than I think. LOL!!!!!
