two years now, is there a fuel pump doesn't chirp yet?

so it has been two years now since the 86 came out. has toyota or subaru come out with a replacement fuel pump that doesn't chirp yet?

I checked recently and no word. Some people are having luck with a replacement.

Same, been pumping Shell 91 since day 1. No chirp since. And I'm 13k km in.

Esso 91 since day 1 with a few tanks of Shell 91 here and there when I didn't have a choice. 23k km later, no chirping yet.

I just hit 4k and chirps have really quieted down... AMPM fuel

my new 2014 with 1300kms started making the cricket sound yesterday.

Tell me, is there an actual problem with the pump or is it just an annoyance?

May be too early to tell, ours is at 5k, no chirp. Combination of Ultramar 91 and Shell 91. E-0.

At the moment only annoyance, but we have to see on the long run...
13k miles with cricket on and off depending on gas/additive.
Some ppl are using 2 stroke oil and it helps (maybe 4oz per tank should be enough).
Also have to see the effect of 2 stroke oil on the long term.

Got my car in May 2014, so about two and a half months of no chirping (knock on wood). Running Petro 94.

Seems like its hit and miss for alot of people.

3500km

krayzie 07-16-2014 08:47 AM

8500km the chirping is only noticeable if you have really good hearing, with all the windows down and at idle. Not sure what's the big deal because my old direct injection Golf chirps also, just couldn't hear it without opening the hood.

Yet nobody complains about hearing all the rocks hitting the bottom of the car while driving. :D

30k and a June 2012 car.. been using shell 91 up until Esso started selling 93

no chirps yet.

Gords_zenith 07-16-2014 09:25 AM

I have 52000 km and the chirps have gone away. I've been running petro 94 for most of its life, with the odd fill of 91. For what's its worth my car is as strong as it was day one. The chirps are only an annoyance.
