CEL P0456
Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak). Has anyone else had this problem? |
Tighten your gas cap. Sounds silly, but that's usually all that will be.
|
Probably gas cap?

^^^^X3
Yup, I've seen this code before and all that needed to be done was retighten the gas cap to make it go away... |
I made sure it was tight, reset the code and drove it around, no cel yet. But, I was curious and loosened up the cap and drove it again and no CEL popped up. I'm going to drive it around tomorrow and see if it'll pop up again with the cap loose.
|
So today I got the exact same CEL again after work right when I started up the car. Its not my gas cap. Its tight. I drove home and I went through almost 2x as much gas as I normally do ( 12 mile commute ) and went through almost a gallon of gas. I've had DI seal issues in the past. Wondering if this is related. Nothing is leaking to the ground which is worrysome.

Anyone get P0451 codes?
|
Well the easy solution isn't the answer this time...
On my stepmom's bmw it was a $1,000 repair to make this cel go away...:mad0260: Time for another dealer/warranty visit |
awesome..

Check any vacuum lines. Last time I had that code it was due to a pinched vacuum hose line after installing a cai. Different car though.

My engine has been lifted out 2 times for DI seal replacements. Would that have anything to do with a possible vacuum hose line if it was related to how the mechanic put it back in?
