Auto locking doors

My doors don't auto lock when you drive off - can this be changed by the dealer ?

I wish mine did that too. Very odd on a $27k car for that not to be standard

I'm happy they don't auto lock. If I'm ever involved in a bad accident and were knocked unconscious someone could get to me and possibly take the steps to save my life without having to wait for the jaws of life to arrive.

However, if I'm in an environment that caused me to feel unsafe, all I have to do is click a button.

yeah but i live in South Africa. You always want the auto lock here. They could set it up to auto unlock if the airbags go off.

Nope, I'm also missing that feature and to add insult to injury, the doors don't auto unlock form the inside when you pull the handle. Highly annoying.

The UK guys are lucky, their cars can be set to lock when you depress the clutch.

maybe ecutek can enable this for us

Depends, it seems the "dealer configurable options" are different between the countries. Would be nice if you could enable the "hidden" features such as auto locking doors and daytime running lights.

I went to toyota to get this done and this is the exact reason why they said the car does not come with the auto lock feature :-(

Still a silly excuse, they could automatically unlock the doors on impact.

What bull from Toyota.
The Lexus IS250 auto locks when you either put it in gear or as soon as you drive over 20km/h. Depending on the year model.
It only unlocks when you press the unlock button. If you pull the lever it will unlock only that door.

So you say they can do it Naughty.

Edit: OK, that sounded a bit dirty, :)

Well a technician from Toyota happened to be there that day and said it can not be done since this feature is not available on the car.

I am hoping they come out with an update which allows it.

I came across this module, anyone installed something like this before?

Nope, but I've seen them on dx.com before.

You could look here to add this feature : http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123339
