I'm assuming you have some software engineering skills but this project decodes the CAN data. They don't have a specific BRZ/86 file, I would assume it's similar to the existing Subarus.

I didn't look at the data from automatic transmission specifically (my car is a manual), but you might be able to find some other interesting stuff I documented here:
https://github.com/timurrrr/RaceChro...can_db/ft86.md

If you find more info on various CAN IDs and data formats, feel free to send a pull request!

I am pretty interested in working with the can bus and working independently on some things with the car. I actually found your GH doc a few months back and it was immense in jumpstarting my progress so kudo's!

Can I ask what you are using to talk to the car? I am using a breadboard with mcp2551 and mcp 2515 + arduino mega2560.

I get communication and everything but my biggest struggle as it stands is communication speed, any tips?

I'd recommend an ARM based controller, lot more power. I was recently looking at this combo, but haven't tried it out yet Should be convenient to either connect as serial, or store on the flash card.

Yea I think the issue is with using the USB serial on the Arduino, I'm trying today to connect the connections directly to the spi io pins on my rpi 3.

Please check my GitHub again, it has a detailed description of the whole project and all the components :)

FYI anyone looking into working with can bus should read The Car Hacker's Handbook. it is focused on penetration but it goes in depth on automotive bus protocols.
