In the process of developing and testing our very own engine pulleys.

I like the design nice machining.

Are you testing them with a higher rev limit?

RD1428 04-25-2013 09:19 AM

Looking good what's the weight?

Calum 04-25-2013 03:29 PM

Just an FYI

I had a pulley with a spoked design on my car for a few months. After a while I realized it was collecting dirt in the apex of the spokes, which seemed to unbalance the engine. I could feel it running rougher and was getting a burnt oil smell after high rpm use. I went back to stock and everything is back to normal. The installation was done correctly, there was no wobble, the key and o-ring were seated properly.

I don't know if my experience was a singular event, I haven't heard of anyone else having this issue.

Thanks Markitect! We have a couple sets prototyped and our cars for testing. Simmons is using them on his AutoX car.

Calum - That is really odd because you would think that the dirt would collect equally in between the spokes. I have never heard of this happening. The only thing I can think of is that the pulley might have been out of balance from the get go.

I checked and re-checked but it was running true. :iono: It seemed odd to me to which is why I didn't think about the pulley right off. I'm still not 100% convinced because of how odd it is, but the dirt was there and the problem is gone.

I haven't heard of anyone else, on any model of car, having this issue so I'm 99.99% sure yours will be fine aswell. I only mentioned it because you seem to still be in an R&D phase and this might be something you'd like to test before going to market. I certainly wont be criticizing if you find it's not a worry.

While i do love having our parts plugged, I do not condone posting on other companies Threads unless we are asked a direct question.

As a CNC machinist i have to say that pulley looks pretty kickass. I've always wondered if a design like that would whistle. Only one way to find out.
Keep up the good work.

Tom

Any idea on the weight of these pulleys?

continuecrushing 04-30-2013 03:36 AM
