Though a very fun car that I really enjoyed, it had it's limitations as a "family" car and after close to 2 years and 30,000 miles I traded it in on something a little bit bigger... Fast forward to this past May, my daughter graduated high school and I found myself with the time to start attending motorsports events again and participated in a track day using my slightly-modded "family car", Legacy 3.6R http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...acy/Track2.jpg After 2 track events the bug had gotten me again, I wanted to do more but the wear & cost of consumables (pads, rotors, tires, etc) for the Legacy 3.6 was concerning. I got to spend some time with Chin Track Days, track prepped 2013 BRZ and I knew I wanted one again. So by the end of June I was on the hunt for an inexpensive BRZ/FR-S as a 2nd car that I could use for track days & autocrosses. In early July I found a 2013 BRZ Premium with only 24,000 miles that had been "totaled" in an accident involving a curb and an off-road excursion. I figured I could tackle most of the repairs myself and then get a Florida Salvage title once it was repaired. http://www.challengepromotions.com/W.../Rebuild/1.jpg It just so happened that this BRZ was now in possession of one of the Chin Track Days instructors who purchased it as a parts car after the Chin BRZ had an off track incident and was offering the rest of the car (now missing a few more parts) for sale. http://www.challengepromotions.com/W.../Rebuild/2.jpg http://www.challengepromotions.com/W.../Rebuild/3.jpg |

And had some issues on the floor pan / brake lines http://www.challengepromotions.com/W.../Rebuild/8.jpg So we agreed on a price and on July 15th Dave-ROR & I went to Atlanta, loaded it up and took it home to Florida http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/10.jpg http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/11.jpg Huge Thanks to Dave-ROR for the assistance and use of his truck & trailer! |

Home at last! Car had the seats and carpet in it, I got those removed on the first day home to address the floor pan repairs. However the dash had been stripped of parts by the previous owner to repair the other BRZ or to sell to help pay for the repairs. http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/14.jpg http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/15.jpg http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/16.jpg http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/17.jpg |

A mallet and some sweat and the floor pan is in better shape, just gotta weld some patch panels...

Head underneath the car to formulate a game plan to fix the brake lines and weatherproof the floor pan and I find some unexpected damage.
http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/21.jpg Compared to what it should look like http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/22.jpg After consulting two body shops who both said they didn't want to touch that because of it's location and difficulty due to overlapping panels I decided to take it on myself. Ordered new sheet metal from Subaru and cut out the part I needed, this doesn't look to be as bad as the body shops made it out to be... http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/29.jpg Ready to weld in, just gotta get the brake lines and fuel lines down for clearance and safety, plus they need to be replaced anyway. In the mean time, I got a door from the salvage yard and got it mounted. http://www.challengepromotions.com/W...Rebuild/30.jpg |

Since the door was on, lets knock out the dash and see if this thing runs.

Pretty good progress in 17 days, hope to get the floor pan completed and the interior reinstalled this weekend and attempt to get the suspension arm mount completed as well, then I can start reassembling and get these parts out of my guest room...

Huge amount of progress on the car this weekend! Had a co-worker come over that had much better welding skills than me and we knocked out the two big things on the list, welded up the floorboard and the suspension mount.
