So what's your real plan for this car?
I know that most of us are already kicking around plans and upgrade paths for the new 86, what are they?
Since I'm going to be stationed around areas with lots of mountains and/or tracks my initial plans are basically as follows: 1: Address seats and cock pit layout. 2: Drop some weight while maintaining an outward appearance of civility. 3: Suspension for track and general higher speed cornering. 4: Wheels/Tire compound 5: Maybe aero, depending on the cars stability and tendencies. (From the Nur videos, she seemed fast but squirrelly.) At least that's year one. After that I'd be looking at power, and/or seeing how it's working out, roll cage. |
1st: Sport street suspension / TRD suspenion if offered (which it will), sway bars, strut tower braces.
2nd: Short throw shifter and spin-knob for e-brake. 3rd: Tires, IF the ones from factory are subpar. (won't be) 4th: Intake/Exhaust, because my cars gotta be loud. I'll do it shortly after I've had my fill of hearing the engine all by itself for a while. 5th: Clutch/flywheel 6th: Probably wheels. |

Well that would depend on what rank i am by that point. If all goes to plan and I am at least a WO1 then:
1) Suspension (after i drive the car and see what needs tweaked) 2) Tires 3) I/H/E Plan to daily this and have a 75 Celica to track, but well see |

suspension: coilover w/ camber plates, sway bars, strut bars and chassis braces wheels: TE37 w/ widest but lowest offset i can fit w/ a rolled fenders stopping power: 6 piston calipers w/ a carbon pad and a slotted rotors interior: strip down like my AE86 w/ full roll cage, no ac, no heater, no cd played, no speakers, no air bags, full racing bucket seat, lower seat rails, longer wheel hub and deep corn type steering wheel exterior:what ever aero package TRD will come out with Japan or US, carbon fiber hood and trunk, TRD front & rear spoiler Engine & differential: turbo, 8lbs flywheel, Kevlar clutch, 2 way LSD and cat back w/o a catalytic converter (nothing with a canister type muffler) I want it to be like my AE86 but modern |
Well, as noted in the poll in another thread, mine will be a garage queen. My plans are:
1. Body-Still undecided on full carbon or doing a widebody (hopefully someone reputable releases something) 2. Wheels-Work Meister S1's along with some sticky tires (probably Potenzas) 3. Suspension-Hopefully KW makes some coils for this because that's what I will get and drop it maybe 2" 4. Engine-Turbo, Turbo, Turbo if there isn't a Yota turbo version. 5. Interior-Full custom interior. This will be done at work. |

I think initially just some TRD parts depending on quality and if they are in house developed or rebadged aftermarket like current ones. I think it will remain fairly stock for a while. maybe strut and sway bars

LSD if it doesn't come with one. Then lightweight rims & good summer tires, stiffer springs (close to stock ride height), struts, sway bars, chassis stiffening where necessary. Then I'm going to put like 3 layers of undercoat on it. I'm not letting it rust like my last 86. Stupid Canadian winters.
I might do intake/exhaust, but nothing that's going to hurt my chances of passing an emissions test. |
The basics tint out the windows all around, intake and exhuast. Then lower it upgade brakes and cat delete.

2. Enkei RPF-1 17"x widest i can fit 3. Good summer tire Kuhmo XS? 4. Sport suspension (TRD) or a GC kit with koni shocks 5. Carbotech XP-8 pads, I like brake dust! That should make it fun to drive street or track day. I'm pretty excited to see what the aftermarket will do for this car. My Rx-7 hardly has anything bolt on that is any good. |
1. Removal off waste to lower weight but keep it look like a road car
2. Fit smaller diameter wheels 3. Maybe a shorter (lower) final gear ratio 4. Improve flow on intake and exhaust 5. Sport cat conv. Hopefully the car will not need much more...:burnrubber: |
