Turning your Premium into a Limited

So I've convinced a friend of mine to buy a BRZ as well and we drove 3 hours to check one out, man, all I really care about is the gauges in the limited.

How can I get these in my premium!?

Step 1: Go to Subaru dealer

Step 2: trade your BRZ Premium in for a BRZ Limited, hopefully at minimal loss of car's original value

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit!!! Erm, I mean, Enjoy!!!

Unless someone can prove otherwise, (from what I've read so far) it would be a major PITA and major expense to get all of the components swapped into a car without dual zone automatic climate control. The panel alone (without hinting as to whether or not it even comes with everything you need) is over $500 from Subaru. Unless you can find a wrecked Limited to swap everything out of, of course...

Those aren't gauges...they're HVAC.

1. Sell car
2. Buy Limited.

Sign up for VIP, sell car, buy a limited.

Yeah, it was definitely one of the selling points. Amazing how much cheaper the premium knobs can make the interior look.

Japanparts.com has it for $389.88. Not sure if that's all you need though. Here is the link http://www.japanparts.com/db/partsli...maker=&VOLKEY=

Like other's have said, those aren't gauges, they are automatic/dual zone HVAC controls. Out of the 25+ cars we've owned, my wife's Fusion is the first one with dual-zone HVAC controls. About only time we use it on is on really long trips (10+ hours). I'm actually glad my limited doesn't have it, and wouldn't want it even if it was a no cost option.

Starting to wonder if the premiums will become a rarity.. maybe the collectible car? I don't know the numbers but the limited must be selling alot more than the premium..

Its probably cheaper to buy a limited and sell or trade all the parts excepts for center console. I have keyless on one of my car and other one doesnt. And sometimes it confuses the shit out of me, im just so used to using key.

It seems like far more work then what it's worth. I had it with a couple of my other Subaru's and I didn't really use it. I like my manual setup more then my wife's automatic setup too for some odd reason.

I really dislike the Toyota design of the area...really hated Toyota's car I think it's the reason why most of the top toyota selling car has problem. poor subaru tho use to be so nice! but now with a lemon car. 2-3 years 2 major recall for toyota.!!! and it's pretty life threatening problems. hopefully brz doesn't have those!!

sbxjap 02-12-2013 08:49 PM

I like the auto climate we have.... But the dual zones have come in handy. Never thought I would use it, but my wife and my sister like it warmer than I do. I don't use the heated seats, but they do when they ride with me.

As for converting... Seems too much trouble to do a complete swap, but just the HVAC may be doable. Might be better to invest money elsewhere though....
