Spanish magazine (Autopista) review + new info + new engine bay photo. ECU flashable!

This time from the Spanish magazine "Autopista", the most important and reliable of my country (IMHO)

The reporter was one of the six chosen to make a first evaluation of the prototype and give feedback to engineers. Like the other reviews so far (CAR, Autocar, Motortrend, C/D), he liked the car a lot. He says it drifts great and that the feeling is similar (despite the distances) to Renault RSs.

Though there's almost nothing new in the article, there are some interesting statements I can't remember seeing in the forum and I would like to share them.
  • The engineers assured him that there will be two manual gearbox options with different ratios
  • The Toyota will be the most affordable of the trio
  • The test unit was wearing Michelin Primacy HPs in 215/45 size on 17" wheels
  • They have freed car's electronics (ECU) so aftermarket industry can tune it at its will
  • It's going to be on sale on June of 2012
There are some good photos of the reporter drifting the car, but the one I think it's new is this:

1st) What? In terms of affordability, Toyota < Scion? how does that make any sense? :iono:

In terms of what exactly? Pricing? ECU tuning?

the two manual options and the ecu.. but i really hope im misproven. even though im going off gut feeling

MiguelAE86 11-11-2011 04:58 PM

I hope this is a "world car" in the sense that those features (especially the Ecu) will be in ALL models.

Yes, I thought more or less the same. It's odd. Perhaps they think it's going to sell better in the USA and take advantage of that. Just a thought. :l

I can't find the article in the web, I think they don't upload the articles of the current week magazine. It's time to scan some pages

I'll be back in a few minutes :)

Yes, he speaks of that as something all of the three will feature

Mr.Jay 11-11-2011 05:06 PM

scion being more expensive can make sense cause Scion only has one trim were we have already seen the toyota will get a base base model for racing as well as 3 different trims so Scion only trim can be more $$$ than toyota lowest trim
