trying to figure out rim sizes after fender flare install
 

Hey guys im just trying to figure out exactly what rim sizes i should be looking for with a fender flare kit installed. i want something that fills the wells real nice atm im sitting on stock springs but i do look to maybe go about half an inch lower to and inch lower with some different coils. some good insight and a good range of sizes would be super helpful thanks guy!

What fender kit? You gotta understand some kits flare more than others.

Another recommendation would be to get coils in order to fit the wider wheels you're probably going to need to get the flush fitment you want.

prolly either the v2 flares or the duraflex ones but i havent heard anything about the duraflex fender kit so im not sure about them. but i also dont know any good coils i dont wanna spend alot on suspension jsut whatver can get me by honestly.

don't do it half assed or else it's just going to be a nightmare for you.


if you do decide to go non authentic, you'll probably end up spending the money you saved on the amount of work needing to get it fitted and prepped.

This argument often overlooks the fact that many people have more skills and time than money. If that's the case, then unless OP was working as a mechanic or at a body shop would his own time spent on the project be a waste.

Also, believe it or not, some folks just like to work on cars.

Fair statement, but if that were the case would he be asking here with zero info to work with?

Probably not, but still it never hurts to ask those that may have done the work before (or in this case, the wheel fitting), regardless of his skill level.

This is how I start projects.


Set a total amount I can spend.
Make a list of desired parts.
Find parts that "fit" in my budget.
Research, Research, Research.
Oh, yeah - Don't forget Paint.
Am I going to install myself?
Do I have all the right tools?


Once I have made a list and answered these questions, I am ready to start. Usually, I use this as an excuse to buy myself some new tool I have been wanting.


I have done ALL the mods to my car.


If you install the suspension and kit first, then you will be able to get solid measurements for the wheels you want.

well see i have 3000 to spend atm but i dont want the full rocket bunney kit and buying the fenders alone are about 1200 bucks then if i get them ill have to cut the fenders and then have the car wrapped. thatll be prolly around 600 bucks. that will leave me with barely any money to get new rims and tires since the rims i own are small they are basically stock rims with a tiny meatier tires on it lol.

Then maybe don't get the flares?

Flares- 1200
Wheels- 1200-5000
Suspension- 500-3000
Wrap (materials)- 600

Your budget is far too low, unless you're buying replica everything and raceland coils.

ULTRA LOW BUDGET Cost Breakdown
Rep Flares ~ 275-500
Wheels ~ Forgestars auto fitment 1700 + tires ~700. Maybe you can get lucky and only spend 1k on a set of used rb fitment forgestars with tires.
Suspension ~ 500-600
Wrap ~ DIY Mats cost.


You're a little under budget even for reps/used parts

so pretty much im gonna go fenderless and wait on my wrap for another time, i just bought bilstein b16's and am looking at getting a set of 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 both with a +45 offset, maybe with some 245/35 in the front and 255 or 265 in the rear. does anyone here know if that fittment will work without over fenders? the offset is a bit much for the front i am assuming? or do you guys know anyone running this?

Yes that will fit in the front for sure. The rear will fit, but will rub occasionally with a 255 or 265 depending on how low you go and how much camber you plan on running.

Before you do anything else, I recommend you do more research on the topic. For example when you install the b16's and lower your car, the camber in the rear is going to be way off... which in turn you'll have to buy lower control arms because stock the rear has no camber adjustment.
