BRZ NAV/DVD bypass
Not sure if this will work with the BRZ nav system...but it works with all other Subarus with Navi..:)... When I get some spare coin..I will purchase this to see if it works..:)

No reason to spend that much on it, all it's doing is grounding one signal.
|
soooo cut the signal??? Diode it???? bypass it??? and do we know exactly 'what' signal.. :)

I'll have to figure that out once I get mine :)
Then once you know the signal it's just a matter of cutting that wire and grounding it somewhere. Sometimes it is as simple as taking a pin out of the harness. |
 i see good things in the works here :)

Has nobody figured this out yet? The car must be that good that current owners could care less about using the nav screen while driving!
|
To figure this out, does anyone have an access to this doc: http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/676...aviHQFinal.pdf?
Also, review this post from NASIOC: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...28&postcount=9 It could be that BRZ is fitted with Pioneer unit, then to identify it use this code diagram: P - Panasonic PE - Pioneer CX - Clarion GX - Kenwood FT - Fujitsu Ten (Eclipse) |
US BRZ has the Fujitsu Ten unit in it.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I was just watching an Xvid.AVI file... and the second i put down my ebrake the screen turned blue!!! so sad. I wanna watch inital D while drifting and smoking a cig!
but for 125 I rather put that towards a Nav/dvd that actually works well! This head unit is sooo crappy it makes me sad. |
The ebrake one is simply, you literally just ground the wire going to the HU for that.
The NAV I don't think is the ground signal as you don't need to engage the ground to set an address. One of the issues I noticed during my recent trip was I could only find stuff in motion with voice rec or nearby items, and voice rec doesn't let me (in an obvious way anyways) change from "nearby" to "in this city/state". Instead the car has to be stopped and I believe the HU is figuring that out simply from the GPS signal, not the ebrake. |
Easy Peasy. Pull the head unit out. Look for the gray plug. One wire is sticking out of it. Cut the wire in the middle. Take the wire that still connects to the connector that plugs in the radio and ground it. Problem solved. Oh, BTW, I grounded it to the ground wire on another connector (the one that has front speakers). Works well.

I will pull out the Nav assembly on Tuesday to try and find the ground cable.
