What are you using for sound deadening ?
Alright guy let's hear what you are/have used for sound deadening on your cars before or your frs/Brz now .
I am currently thinking of using B-quiet extreme because of its light weight and incredible reviews and pricing , 89.99 for a 50 sq-ft that weighs 15 lbs. I would consider dynamat but it's way too expensive for a full car deadening , maybe just for trunk to remove the bass rattle . Thanks in advance ! |
fat-matt is the only company ive ever used ... just keep in mind to ask for no logo becouse the blue logo will come off and u will turn into a smurth

I have a 60 sq ft roll of Audio Technix deadener waiting for me when I get back.
|
There are a ton of companies out there that all have very similar products. We use the Stinger Roadkill brand. One of the products they make is called "Overkill" and it is a thicker layer of sound deadening, but it is also light weight.

I think I have used literally every major brand out there, price/perf Ill stick with Rattletrapp 80mil. For me, it just works.

will sound deadening help with reducing exhaust drone?

You need more than just peel & stick to reduce noise, it's mainly for vibration dampening. I have a 68 sq ft roll of the MLV in my garage I may use, at least in some places. |
RAAMmat BXT II & Ensolite IUO have worked well for me on a Sienna & a TC.

quite a bit, its not a quick job to do it properly. This is the type of job that if the price of mat alone bothers you then install price will be like a punch in the face. I would say buy it and do it your self, it isnt hard to do it just takes a long ass time. |
cruzinbill is dead on with his assessment,
The Sienna was a 29 hour job broken down into segments, labor rate ? The TC was 16 hours with the help of my older daughter (it is her car). Disassembly/reassembly is the easy part, lol |
Good thread.. I have never worked with any deadening before but just purchased a FRS and a Tundra - So I am thinking about giving deadening a shot while I have the car/truck stripped apart for their sound system upgrades.
I want to get some of the rattles and road noise out of the FRS, and the tundra is going to need a good amount of deadening because the system I am putting in will push 2000w of bass alone. Until then I will continue to browse around and learn more about deadening before I take the plunge.. |
