Average clutch install cost? Stock, nothing crazy.

$1200 USD is about average from what I’ve seen on the forum. You can get an OEM disk, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw out bearing and flywheel as a kit on amazon for $400 USD.

Timmygt 08-19-2019 06:31 AM

Wow, that's a lot for labor. OK.

Can you send me the link?

Here is one for $213 without the flywheel:

So you know, EXEDY is the suppler for our original clutch. But yes that is a lot for labor. Our cars are crazy easy to do the clutch on and parts are super cheap. I think shops just throw out $1000 - $1200 assuming it will be as difficult and costly as the average car but it isn’t.

Don't worry I found it. I'm going to have a go at it myself. $435 with a new flywheel means no machining.
. So, I figure why not?

I received a quote for $2500 from a dealership in Louisville when I thought I might need to change my clutch. Absolute insanity haha

For the same price you can get a kit with a 12.7lbs flywheel if you are interested. I plan to do that when my clutch wears out. I’ve got 100k miles on my clutch so far. I had the engine out at 92k and the clutch was hardly worn at all. At some point I may swap it just to get a LWFW in there.

Thanks but, I'll stick with the stock unit. I don't want anything aftermarket.

Cost me 1k for a Exceedy HD clutch kit and bearing.

And took about 4 hours..

Timmygt 08-20-2019 04:54 AM

1k for an exedy HD? I'm assuming that's including flywheel.?

Don’t bother with an upgraded clutch on stock power. Big waste of money.

Timmygt 08-20-2019 05:03 AM

I wasn't but, I was just curious as to the expense of a HD clutch. I was looking at an OEM flywheel, and clutch for $436 delivered. 1k sounds heaps expensive.

Which was also me sending the car on a flat bed cause the throwout bearing had shit itself, car arrived at the workshop at at 11am, car was ready by 4pm.

Also, everyone else in this thread is from the US, so pricing for them will be different compared to pricing here in Aust.
They are buying in freedom bucks.
