Trunk swap with my WRB premium?

Figured I would post this here before going to the general boards. I've decided that I would rather have the spoiler on my BRZ, and figured an easy way to do it would be a trunk swap. Based on the poll, it seems over 80% of folks getting the limited want to get rid of the spoiler so I'm thinking it shouldn't be too hard to find someone.

I'm #2 at Beyer in alexandria, and the car should be in by June. Anyone in the dc area that's getting a WRB limited want to swap trunks with me? Shoot me a PM to discuss further.

don't forget to remove the VIN tag before you swap and good luck with finding someone :D

once you remove the VIN sticker from the trunk, i don't think you can re-use it. good luck finding someone willing to do that though.

Could you explain this a little more? First time I've ever done anything like this, so complete noob here. The only reason I even thought of it was because people were talking about it in the spoiler delete thread awhile back.

Basically just looking to make sure if I do this its not going to mess anything up in any way. Obviously if it's going to be at all a pain I won't even bother. The car looks great with or without the spoiler.

i'm not 100% sure on this, and i'm basing this off of the honda cars i've seen.
anyone with a subaru, feel free to chime in.

all the panels on the car will have a sticker with the vehicle's VIN. if you swap parts/trunks, then you'll have the wrong VIN sticker. the sticker is pretty hard to peel, and i doubt it can be re-used.

it's just a personal preference, but i'd prefer to have a matching VIN sticker. it also helps with re-selling the car in case the buyer wants to know why the sticker doesn't match. if you ever had to replace a panel on your car (from an accident or something), i don't think you'll have a VIN sticker on the panel.

Gotcha, that makes sense. It's definitely not a big deal to me, so hopefully I'll find someone of a similar mentality. Would be pretty easy to keep the record of the swap in case something does come up when trying to sell the car.

i was in a similar situation like yours a couple months back. i preferred not having a spoiler on the rear. after viewing so many pics of the car with the spoiler, the look eventually grew on me and now i actually like it. your preference may change too. :bellyroll:

At least you're in the biggest group of people with the the same color, so it's going to be alot easier to find a trunk for you. I looked at the data and MID A is all WRB except for 1 or 2 SWP and my SSM when I order it. I'm sure alot of people will have the same mentality and you'll be able to find someone. That VIN sticker thing is important to collectors, and if you sell the car to say a carmax or someone who is very keen in car history. But I think you'll be fine.

And there's a heck more limited out there then Premium, so there's kinda a novelty of running around with no Spoiler XD

Is the matching VIN thing still a big deal with people these days?

Yeah...but only in resale and insurance related things. And I guess if this car become like a collector's item. Other then that...Can't think of anything.
