OEM Crash Bolts, top and bottom
Anyone running OEM crash bolts top and bottom on the track?
I'd be interested to hear your observations and opinions. I've run crash bolts in top hole only (-1.3°) for 2 years (28 track days) but I'd like a bit more camber and I don't want to go the coilover route. |
The OEM bottom bolt is the same as the crash bolt you put in the top.

You could look into aftermarket tophats.
Are you still on stock struts and springs? |
Or just use aftermarket camber bolts in addition to the OEM crash bolts.

Yes, I'm running SPC bolts top and bottom with the Swift Spec-R springs, aligned to -2.5 degrees camber. It's probably not the best setup long term since the overall bolt diameter is lower than normal, but at least they are high grade bolts.
Since moving from just lower camber bolts to both upper and lower in october, I've only done 3 track days, 4 time attacks, and 2 autocrosses. One of the time attacks I went sideways into the curbing hard enough to fold in the rocker panel, and the bolts held up. |

But Toyota does make OEM crash bolts in different sizes if you need it for legality/classes rules. The MR2 Slyder guys I have seen run multiple at times but cant give feedback on slipping (though I havent seen anyone complain). 12mm: 90105-14147 13mm: 90105-14146 Its wierd cuz the 14mm bolt is different part numbers for the FRS and the older cars but these bolts are generic across the Toyota line. Dont see why it wouldn't work but again all this is just searching google and the spyder forums so ymmv And actually curious why nobody tried this in CS lol. |

Ive ran double crash bolts. Did for about 8 hours on Fuji speedway, never had an issue.

I'm running the OEM crash bolts on top, SPC camber bolts on the bottom. I was able to get -2.1 of camber on stock suspension.

OEM 14mm crash bolts up top, SPC 14mm camber bolts in the bottom. Going in for alignment this weekend. Have SPC bolts in the top holes up front, and got roughly -1.0 degree on each side. SPC 14mm camber bolts en route for the lower holes. Looking for that -2.5 deg sweet spot... Anyone think that will be doable with the SPC bolts in both holes?
