Tail Light Condensation
I got home with my FR-S yesterday and noticed condensation on the inside of the tail light:
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a34...524_190222.jpg OH NOES! :eyebulge: Anyone else experienced this? It still hasn't gone away this morning. I think the tail light assembly has a bad seal or something... |
That is not good. Hope this isn't common.
|
pls take in for warranty work and keep us all informed, that sucks, i've always noticed that on the eyebrown of bmw, must be the irregular shape of the light assembly that makes sealing difficult.
|
My RX-8 had the exact same issue on the tail lights. Definitely get it in there for replacement as the condensation can wreak havoc on the reflective materials.
Those of us out of warranty had to take to drilling vents in the bottom to get it to go away. |
I will take it in to Toyota this afternoon. I'll keep you informed!

I have seen this common with many first year production cars..... sometimes improper packing from the molder to the assembly plant will cause warping and mismatched fit. This is usually corrected quickly. I have also seen issues at the molders where companies were rushed in product tion and did not allow proper cool time before packing to ship to assembly plant and getting warped in shipment. Thus why it's awesome to have a Warren ty!

Anyways, keep us informed on what Toyota says! |
That's not good..
It should be covered by warranty though. All lighting components are required to pass a pressurized air leak test before they ship it to the assembly plant; partly so that this type of condensation doesn't happen. Good luck! Looking forward to your update |
Good catch on this - I'll have to check mine as well. Let us know how things come together.
|
I'd also suggest possibly moving this to the general forum so that more members are aware, just a thought.
|
Mods: Would you mind moving this to general forum? Sorry... I didn't realize I was posting in the pics forum.
|
If they change the tailight then ask them for the condensed one so that you can take it apart and try painting it for us :D
